I'm a new member of the Alfa family, having bought a 1988 Spider Veloce six months ago. I love the car but have had quite a howl noise coming from apparently the rear end. My mechanic discovered broken teeth on the main pinion which led to the installation of a new "used" rear end. While the noise is not nearly as loud a before, I still have a high pitched "howl" especially during acceleration and especially at 50 mph or over. Can anyone offer any advice? I would really appreciate it. Is this a characteristic noise of the spiders? Thanks for any help you can offer.
