Vollständige Version anzeigen : Help me save this alfa 33 from the scapyard :-)
If anyone could explain to me how to replace a broken rear
windshield I would greatly appreciate it ...
I'm hoping to be able to gather the knowledge and skills to
save this good-looking baby from the scrapyard.
Other things to be done is changing some parts of the engine and
changing the right headlights but I feel fairly confident about that
....
You can e-mail me at jpuype@yifan.net

Hi,
Please define the word repair to me.
To be continued
Hi JurgenP,
There are two ways as far as I know to remove a broken Windshield. In both cases you need another person to help you.
First possibility is to laye (?) on the rear bank an push the window outwards. The other person has to "catch" the windshield and protect it from falling (specially on the carrosserie). Best is to protect the trunk with a blanket.
The other possibility is to use a flat screwdriver and cm by cm slowly press the joint out of its "rail". I prefer the second way. But there too you need a person to prevent the windshield from falling.
It also depends on the way the rear windshield is fixed. I only did this on my GTV so maybe they are fixed in another way on a 33.
If the glass is fully broken (depending on the glass type) you can just pull the joint out of its "rail".
To fit the new rear windshield in place (again it depends on way it's mounted) you can take a long enough cord (0,3 cm thin and made of nylon and a little longer than the dimension of the windshield. It has to go all around) press it into the joint (in the middle there should be "channel" between the inner- and the outter-half of the joint) and leave the two endings of the cord at the bottom of the windshield. Now place the windshield in place by first inserting the bottom of the windshield into its place (the "rail"). From the inside of the car where you should have the two endings of the cord, slowly pull one ending and then the other one. You should change pulling the endings from now to than, so that the windshield will get in place "simetrically". When you pull the cord slowly you should see that the innerside of the joint flips into its place inside the car so that the "channel" from the joint surounds the "rail".
Also here you will need a person to assist you. He/She should press on the windshield at place where you pull the cord.
Hope this helps you.
The rest (engine) you be pretty easy as you sead.
Hope this helps you.
Bye,
Tigrou.
