Been running my 164 Super V6 24V for five months now, all been well until yesterday - oil pressure appears to have dropped to "1" from a previously healthy "3-4". There are no fluctuations when revs change.
Is this a sensor problem or something more serious?
It is 7 years old, with 70k miles on the clock and had major service recently.

Hi Kevin !
If there's enough oil in the engine, I would guess it's an electrical or mechanical problem with the sensor/indicator.
If, however, there is not enough oil in the engine you'd have a more serious problem assuming the oil was filled to a correct level at the last service.
So, check the dip-stick.
Good luck !

Thanks for the reply.
I scoured the 'net for more info and it seems many Alfa drivers report the same problem (and I too experienced this on my previous 164).
It seems the culprit is often the 'sender unit' - reports suggest it is somewhat fragile. I do keep an eye on the dipstick, and the level was great before AND after the perceived drop in pressure.
As well as making the 3.0 quieter, smoother and cheaper to drive, LPG also keeps the engine oil as clean as when it first went in :)
Cheers!
