is it possible to convert a 33 to rear wheel drive?
i have been told to put a gear box of a 33 station wagon in my 33 (with the rear axle and things) and just connect the rear wheels and leave the front but i'm not sure it this would work.
i thought the 4wd box was not a full time 4wd but was mostly front wheel drive for the road and 4wd as and when needed.
can anyone help on the subject please :-]

Hi Suzuki,

the 33 had two differerent 4WDs. First the 4WD with a visco clutch for the rear wheels. This drive worked mainly on the front wheels and the rear drive was switched electronically when needed.
The other system is a permanent 4wd. Here you don't have any regulating systems. Instead of the visco clutch you only have a cardan shaft.
These are the facts. But I'm sorry I won't help you further on for any mounting hints. I'm even not sure if it's possible anyway.

hi markusw

thanks for the reply.
i have a 1.7 33 veloce cloverleaf with a few modifications to the engine and as it is now it has to much torque for the front wheels, loads of torque steer and wheel spin.
if i can find a gearbox to fit the engine i can make new mounts for it myself.
i wondered if i only connected the rear wheels if it would give me gear box problems later on.
i guess i could try to make it 4wd.
i will have to look into it.
thanks for the help :-]
