Hello Alfisti,
I am writing in this thread because I don't speak German but I think the best Alfa tuning shops seem to be in Germany. I am looking for ways to increase the performance on my 95' 164Q for street racing. But in the states it is very difficult to find performance parts for it. I'm looking for information on good ECU chips, Exhausts, turbo kits, and any other ideas on increasing performance without an engine rebuild. Stock the Q came with 230hp my goal is to try to get in to 270hp or higher. Thanks for any help, I greatly appreciate it.

Thank you for the information. I am working with Autodelta on some of this they've been pretty good in helping me. I was really interested in Novitec's turbo but they said they didn't have one for the 164 model. Does anybody have any other ideas on increasing performance in the 164? Right now Autodelta is working with me on the chip, are there any high performance exhausts that might increase hp in the 164? How about street racing clutches or flywheels? Any recommendations on lightening techniques for the body?
Thanks,
Enthusiastic as ever with fellow alfisti helping.

did you ask for the V6 24V Turbo? ???

No, I asked for 164 parts specifically. I saw the 24v 6 but I wasn't sure if the fittings would work on my Alfa. So I asked them what performance parts they had for my 164. They replied none, that they didn't make anything for it. So I assumed it didn't have the correct fittings. Was I wrong in my assumptions? I would love it if their turbo fits. What about exhausts have you guys found any high performance exhausts systems that work well? What else could I do?
Thanks guys,
Keith
Hi Keith,
where do you come from?
Is you Q the QV, S or the Q4 with 4WD?
For the normal 2WD Q (QV or S) fits all Exhaust-Systems from the "normal" 164 with V6. The Q4 (4WD) have a total different Exhaust-System in stock. So you can only try build a custom made system.
For the normal exhaust try Stebro. For a custom made exhaust (for the 4WD-164 and also for the 2WD-164) you can ask by I.C.P in Germany, Phone +49 6103 831616. They build custom made SS-Exhaust-Systems for all cars with parts from Borla.
But only with a hp-exhaust and a hp-chip you can find max. roundabout 10 - 20 hp.
For more try the 3500 cc engines from Harry Schulze ( http://www.ps-schulze.de ) or Sam van Lingen SAVALI ( http://www.autoboulevard.nl/lingen/ )
With this engines you can go easyly for more than 270 hp.

Hey these were some excellent sites. I'm having a little trouble with them because I'm American and don't speak German. I got most of what they were offereing but I have a couple of questions. On those 3500cc engines how does it work? Do I send them a core pay the money and they send me the replacement? Or Do they work on your existing engine? How does PS convert to HP? And what relevance is KW? Have you guys found a really good chip? There are a lot out there. Does anybody recommend one over another? Thanks again for the great info. I have a 164Q 2WD version. If the novitec turbo will work on it I'm seriously considering it. Any thoughts on turbo vs. Naturally Aspirated engines? Thanks again.

PS I love this car!
Hi Keith,

Maybe is it possible to write a e-mail in english.

Normaly are this in exchange. You change you "old" engine with the larger cc-engine and pay for the modifications, in all is this engine like a normal Exchange-Engine - all used parts are changed.
How does PS convert to HP? And what relevance is KW?
DIN-PS = DIN-HP, this shell be the same like netto SAE-HP.
KW = kiloWatt = 1 kW = 1,36 PS or 1,36 HP.
Have you guys found a really good chip? There are a lot out there. Does anybody recommend one over another? Thanks again for the great info.
You can try
Autodelta in UK ( www.autodleta.co.uk )
or
Superchips in USA ( www.superchips.com ).
For other modifications you can look at
Autocomponenti - they offers Turbo and Supercharger
( http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/4SFED/ )
or Sperry-Valve-Works - they offers i.e. port-modifications
( Http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/sperry_valve_works/homepage.htm ).
Autodelta in UK sale big-bore-V6, too.

Take a look at the links above. Another good Tuner for the Alfa V6 is
Beninca in Australia
They have tested a 3,5 Liter V6 with multithrottle and other modifications at 400 HP @ 7.300 rpm on the dyno.
For an custom-made Twinturbo-V6 you can look here:
http://elektron.its.tudelft.nl/~jebe/
Ok, this is an 75 or Milano an not an 164. But the engine is in many parts the same.

Doesn't the 164 2.0 V6 Turbo have the same fitting for the exhaust manifold to the cylinder head? If so, then you could fit the stuff from that engine to yours. At least it would fit the engine bay. I have never compared these two engines in any way, because they never imported the turbo to Finland. I've just heard that the heads would be alike.
