computer chip 147 learning curve

Just a quick question but something I wouldn't mind a second opinion on ....

A salesman has told a friend of mine collecting her 147 today that in order to end up with a responsive car, she
was to drive it hard for the first while, something about a computerised
system that monitors the style of driving and reacts accordingly.

Has anyone else here been given this advice?

Yes, I've been told the same thing about the ECU 'learning' the driver's style of driving. I think its true, because after a year of driving my 147 2.0, other owners have commented that I seem to have a revvier unit.

I guess by pushing it hard, it 'learns' the required throttle respose of the driver. The other owners did not push their cars as hard, so I guess the ECU gives them a more 'relaxed ' response. I'll try to get more feedback from the other owners, and post it for your info.

Rgds.

sorry but I think it is bullshit.
There is no such learning chip, and it looks like ridiculous.
After a few thousand of kilometers all the cars start responding a little bit faster than when they are newer.
You can't say that if your car looks like having more response
sinc eyou bought it then there were a learning chip larning your guide.
Then I would like to know all what you say where did it come from ?
Did you try to measure the time from 0-100Kph when you bought it and now after a few thousand Km ? is there any difference ?
Did u try top speed ?
Another thing to say is thats when you buy an Alfa nowdays a special oil is put in the engine this oil will last the first 20.000 Km,
then you change it, after 20.000Km you can notice a little difference in the performances such as the car being more responsive as you said.
